How POC & Women Founders and Leaders Build Power,
Drive Impact, and Shape Culture
Hello my dear BIPOC pioneers!
For us BIPOC entrepreneurs, and maybe especially for those of us who are children of immigrants (or even immigrants ourselves), selling can be stressful.
We know we have to put ourselves out there. We know we need to connect with as many people as possible. But the thought of being too pushy, sleazy, or a burden to others weighs us down and even stops us from seizing opportunities.
The good news is, the best sales strategies are FAR from sleazy.
Today I want to share my top 3 tips for zero-sleaze sales strategies that may even make “selling” enjoyable for you.
As a coach, you’re probably really good at guiding and supporting your clients. You know how to actively listen, empathize with challenges, and offering tailored advice. These are the same skills that make a great salesperson.
So if you believe that you’re a good coach, consultant, or service provider, then you’re also a good seller. Remember that. And start believing it, too.
As mentioned above, being a good listener and knowing how to solve problems are important sales skills. So if you stop focusing on 'I’ve gotta sell my offer' and instead listen to see how you can solve someone’s problems, selling becomes much easier, less stressful, and more natural.
Next time you’re talking to a potential lead, just listen to them. FIgure out what their challenges are. And if you’ve got the answers to their problems, share them. That’s what we call selling with ease!
Especially as a mission-driven entrepreneur, your business is driven by building genuine relationships. Focus on creating authentic connections rather than just closing a deal. Get to know your potential clients and their needs, and offer value without expecting immediate returns.
When people feel genuinely valued and understood, they’re more likely to engage with you and trust you with their business. Building relationships fosters trust and long-term loyalty, making the sales process feel more natural and less transactional.
In solidarity,
Carissa
